Kempton Park Women Murders: What We Know About the Ekurhuleni Investigation

Police in Gauteng are investigating a series of deaths involving women whose bodies have been discovered in parts of Ekurhuleni since July 2026. The investigation has included cases in Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, KwaThema and Clayville. Authorities have deployed specialised investigators to examine possible links between the cases, while warning the public against speculation and unverified claims.

South African police issued a public warning after the discovery of a seventh woman's body in Kwa-Thema, east of Johannesburg.

Authorities say the cases appear sufficiently similar to warrant intensified investigation, but SAPS has not confirmed that a serial killer is responsible. Police have urged women to exercise caution, including during outdoor activities such as jogging. 

President Cyril Ramaphosa has directed police authorities to prioritise the investigations. 

South Africa's government news service also reports that the Gauteng Provincial Legislature's Portfolio Committee on Community Safety has called for action over the Ekurhuleni killings.
